Associate Corporate Controllers – VCG Controls Office

The Finance Control Office, a function of both Corporate Controllers and the Oversight & Control Group, partners with Finance, the Lines of Business and IT Control groups to create and maintain a sound control environment
with the goal of preventing, identifying, escalating, measuring and timely remediation of Finance control issues. The Finance Control Office is responsible for overseeing the execution of the Firm wide control framework across the Corporate Finance businesses, understanding and assessing Firm wide Finance control issues and is responsible for the Firm’s Sarbanes Oxley framework. The Corporate Finance Control group resides within the Finance Control Office.
Position Overview
The Corporate Finance Control group is responsible for compliance with the Firm-wide control framework across the Corporate Finance businesses. The control agenda includes, but is not limited to:
•         Risk and Control Self Assessments
•         Active issue management
•         Business Resiliency
•         Sarbanes Oxley compliance
·         Awareness of multi-national regulatory agency and their ability to influence business controls
This position will manage this agenda specifically for the firmwide Valuation Control Group (VCG) who is responsible for performing the independent valuation of various products throughout the Firm.
The Firmwide Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent group within Finance whose primary responsibility is to ensure that the firm’s risk portfolios are fairly valued.  The group sets independent pricing and reserve policies. VCG highlight concentrations in risk or uncertainties in parameter inputs and work with the trading and quantitative groups to fully understand their implications from a risk/return perspective and the impact on the desk’s level of reserving. In addition, VCG is responsible for the review of approximately loaded trades and approval of new products.
The role will require technical/valuation expertise, strong people management as well the ability to communicate effectively at very senior level across the Firm.
Job Responsibilities
•        Executing the VCG Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program for APAC ( HongKong & Japan): includes partnering with onshore stakeholders, VCG management.
•         Manage the risk and control self-assessment process for multiple VCG business units in India.  This includes partnering with VCG to identify key risks/controls/ issues, implementing standards, and meeting frequency requirements
•         Perform risk based process risk review and review of internal controls
•         Assist with production of monthly control committee materials
•         Prepares and publishes risk metrics, scorecards,
•         Execute strategic initiatives and projects as needed (e.g. controls around models, User Tools, etc) in partnership with VCG management
•         Managing the local VCG business continuity process
•         Implement Corporate or LOB policies, procedures, or other initiatives related to control enhancements or best practices
•    Communicate effectively to VCG management, CF management and other control partners
 
Candidate will be supporting team in Asia, EMEA & NA and must be willing to work in flexible hours ( UK Shift - 1:00 pm to 10:00pm IST ) 

Qualifications


Education:
CA/ CPA/ CFA/MBA with 5+ years of post qualification experience in Operational Risk, SOX Management Testing and/or Internal Audit for Trading products & Valuation.

Experience
•         Experience in SOX testing, Risk & Control Self Assessment (RCSA), Internal Audits, Process Risk Reviews for Trading Products & valuation process; Business Contingency Planning (BCP), Information Risk Management (IRM), etc
•         Previous experience in a ‘Big 4’ Accounting Firm, Internal Audit, or other control function with strong understanding of internal controls, is a plus
•         Strong accounting background - Sarbanes-Oxley 404 background is a plus

•         Strong control mind-set with an aptitude to identify & assess operational risk issues
•         Keen eye for details and ability to identify control gaps. Good auditing and review skills
•         Inquisitive and proactive in identifying risks and proposing solutions
•         Exceptional ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written)
•         Excellent relationship management skills with ability to deal effectively with management at all levels
•         Able to grasp/learn new concepts, policies and procedures quickly
•         Ability to understand the risk impacts of technology change projects
•         Ability to prioritize in a fast moving, high pressure, constantly changing environment
•         Self-motivating and carry a proactive & positive approach
•         Ability to understand when to escalate
•     Attention to detail with understanding of materiality
•     Willingness to work on flexible working hours ( UK Shift - 1:00 pm to 10:00pm IST )
